Peggy, playing the blues in Atlanta.
Peggy with composer/arranger Elmo Mercer. When she was a church pianist, she often played his songs. She still loves to play Mercer's organ/piano duets with her sisters.

Mission Trip: LaJoya, Mexico

This big-eyed waif lives in shack made of cast-off apple crates and corrugated tin in a town populated by destitute mothers and fatherless children. A simple act of kindness – a hug - blessed both of us.
Pictured: Sun Sprite, a Grandiflora.

Because I love being smack dab in the middle of nature, I created four gardens for my home and filled them with roses - New Dawn, Peace, Don Juan and Zephrine Drouhin climbers; rich yellow Sun Sprite and dainty pink Little Fairy. But my favorite is the Gertrude Jekyll that blooms all summer and perfumes my front porch.

Gardening Tip: Always deadhead roses just above a five-leave growth. Make a slanting cut with good, sharp garden sheers. Never tear the rose stem.
I love lectures.
